On 13 April, Tony Buzan’s international team said, “we have lost one of the leading lights of intelligence,” as they revealed the sad news that Tony Buzan had passed away.

Paul Seed, CEO of Mind Map Pro said: “It was with great sadness that I heard of Tony’s passing. He was the major protagonist for popularising mind mapping. In his field, he was the equivalent of Jobs, Gates or Wozniak. As a mind mapping enthusiast, I greatly appreciate the work he did. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.”

Buzan was an English author, educator and consultant who is often called the inventor of mind mapping. Inspired by thinking techniques used by Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, and Joseph D. Novak, Buzan popularised mind mapping on a global scale.

One self-proclaimed lifelong mind mapping fan, Alec Hogg, wrote for Biz News that he heard Buzan say he’d “studied 100 historical geniuses. Leonardo, Edison, Elizabeth I and other super-gifted beings” and discovered that they “did their thinking in full-colour images, not words.”

Buzan helped improve creativity, mental literacy and memory skills through a packed calendar of events, which, in addition to viral videos and successful books, allowed him to spread his teachings across the world.
