Community Partnership at TEDxBristol

Our team is committed to contributing to a world of positive disruptors and we are doing this in a variety of ways:

We have built a collaborative thinking environment to enhance the way the world thinks. Traditional methods of thinking, planning and working are outdated.

We are positively disrupting these processes by scrapping the handbook and promoting natural, free-flowing thinking and seamless development from idea generation to actionable and operational work.

Mind Map Pro is a digital tool that is collaborative, intuitive and allows users to work freely without constraint.

By joining TEDxBristol as a Community Partner, our support is helping to disrupt the elitism that you often see at high profile events because our donation contributes to providing seats for people who would otherwise not be able to attend TEDxBristol.

We want to share our ethos of connectivity and collaborative thinking with local communities, no matter what their circumstance.

Live mind mapping:

The Mind Map Pro team will be live mind mapping talks during the event to provide an engaging way for attendees and online viewers to digest the powerful information that is being delivered by the speakers.

Its free, so anyone in the world can follow our mind mapping or use Mind Map Pro for their own projects when they dare to disrupt. Follow the live mind mapping at https://tedxbristol.mindmappro.com on 2-3 November 2017.

TED is a nonprofit organisation devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. It began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics, from science to business to global issues, in more than 100 languages.

Independently run TEDx events, like TEDxBristol, help share ideas in communities around the world by delivering talks to sell-out audiences, working with creative partners across the UK and reaching a global audience online, no matter where they are on the planet.

TEDxBristol, the largest TEDx event in the UK, is organised and run by a volunteer team of “reality makers and game changers”.

TEDxBristol Launch

On Thursday 28th September, Mind Map Pro’s CEO, Paul Seed and Marketing Manager, Tess Coughlan-Allen were invited to the exclusive TEDxBristol launch event, hosted by OVO Energy.

The hosts generously provided refreshments and drinks for their guests during the networking sessions inside their impressive office space, which included a Friska coffee house, a treehouse with all the greenery you could wish for and an indoor slide!

During the launch event, we heard from a selection of newly announced TEDxBristol speakers.

First up was Anna Starkey, Creative Director of We The Curious (formerly At Bristol). Anna said she was driven by a passion to connect people and ideas, a feeling that she shares with the team here at Mind Map Pro HQ.

As a scientist, Anna explains why we need a culture of curiosity: “Sometimes it is very had to press that button, to make a change and disrupt… we need to empower people to face their fears… be curious and ask questions… to create a culture of curious people.”

The second speaker we heard from was Clayton Planter, who is passionate about reaching out to contacts on the street and teaching them to learn the legal hustle. He explained the links between the streets and the boardroom. He recognised how criminals often worked with an organised and efficient hierarchy of workers. He is on a pursuit to move these existing skills to the corporate world to help people achieve great things.

Clayton explained that guys on the street take more risks, but when you take them out of their comfort zone, they freeze. Clayton’s drive to move people from street to boardroom brings two words together to create a better culture for all.

Another TEDxBristol speaker, David McGoran was announced at the launch event. David is co-founder and artistic director of Rusty Squid. His work interrogates the ongoing co-evolution between technology, humanity and nature, provoking fresh perspectives on the relationships they have. His talk will explore how we can disrupt through avant-garde robotics.

The final speaker during the launch event was Martyn Ashton, a professional mountain bike rider who broke his back and is now paralysed, explaining why you don’t need legs to ride a bike.

Martyn will use his personal experience during his talk to outline what he learnt from the day of his life-changing accident and what he’s done since, culminating with a newfound confidence and a message that each one of us should “trust what you feel, not what you think”.
